The 'Kim Jung Hwan'

Have you seen 'Reply 1988'? If you answer with 'yes', it means you must know all characters as well. Yep! There is an absurd girl known as Sung Duk Seon, a daughter of a clerk bank Sung Dong Il. Being a second child in her family, she has an older sister named Sung Bo Ra and a little 'old-faced' brother named Sung No Eul. In her youth, she was being the 989th rank in her high school, having no beat in dancing, but being socially good to her surroundings.

Being in the 1988 setting, the 'Reply 1988' shows us how there were time without internet connection and sophisticated gadgets, but with a good neighborhood in which supplies the people's source of happiness. In Duk Seon;s case, she has 4 friends, in which all of them are men, with different characteristics. The first is Choi Taek, a genius baduk player which gets a high IQ, but a highly idiot guy in his daily activities. The next one is the counselor-guy, Ryu Dong Ryong who has glasses as his appearance's look. The third one is the only 'normal' guy between these weird boys in the 'Ssangmundong' alley, the first child and the only man to protect his widow mom and cute little sister, known as Sung Sun Woo. He is smart, nice, and not to mention that he is wise, unlike the other three boys in the gang. And, the last, which is my favourite among these men, is Kim Jung Hwan. The second child and son in his 'Kim-sajang' family, having a cold-hearted characteristics and never shows his affections toward others directly. He is like the other typical boys, loving soccer that much and somehow stating himself as 'the only guy with no manners and no cares with the surroundings', but in fact, he is 'the one who does it all'.

As we all have known, the 20 episodes provide us many scenes which have the same characteristics as we usually face. All about family stories, all about loves, all about neighborhoods, and all about friendships. Which is why, in the poster above, we could see that the drama shows us about 'my family as my last love'. In my opinion, though I love all 'Reply' drama series, I choose this 'Reply 1988' as the best one. In 'Reply 1997', we know all about 'fan-girls' things' that makes me remember how it makes the resemblance of my high school story and this very first 'Reply' series was being my favorite before. Then, when 'Reply 1994' was shown, I changed my preference to the battle of #Team Chilbong and #TeamTrash. I chose #TeamChilbong, of course, because of Chilbong's quote 'Because I was nice, I was hurt' and because of my 'second-male-lead syndrome'. Then, after hesitating for about two months of not watching it, I decided to watched the first episode of 'Reply 1988', and that was the day when I did regret of my wrong-doing: to watch 'Reply 1988'. That was because I knew Jung Hwan and fell in love with his characteristics and also the plot that made me to cry in the end. (And, I did regret because I postponed doing my final project because watching the drama, of course).

The title of today's post is about 'Kim Jung Hwan'. I'm telling you before, that Jung Hwan is the character I love the most. At first, I sensed that he was a rebel, a chaotic one who did troubles. A guy who will be the 'bad boy' in the gang. It's right, he is the 'bad boy': a 'bad boy' who pretends he doesn't care his Mom, Dad, and his brother (Jung Bong), a 'bad boy' who bickers Duk Seon more to show his caring for her, a 'bad boy' who chooses to lost his love over his friendship, a 'bad boy' who holds his own laughter to hide his true feelings, a 'bad boy' who cries and shouts only in his mind, a 'bad boy' who..... suffers the most inside.

He might be Jung Hwan. He might pretend that he doesn't care. He might be the only one who bickers the most with Duk Seon. He might be the only one losing in love. He might be the only one showing his stoic face. He might be shouting and crying in a 'hidden place'. He might be the only one suffers the most. But, he is Kim Jung Hwan. And, to me, he is the only 'real man' in the drama plot story, afterall.

Jung Hwan that I like is Jung Hwan who shares the same story as mine. Not all of his life is as same as mine, but in some cases, he resembles mine. That is why I cry only for Jung Hwan's character. That is because he reminds me of myself. Jung Hwan wants to be understood, not only being looked at.

But, actually, there is also this one person who has the same stoic face as Jung Hwan. And, he has a lot of secrets in his mind which I cannot read by only looking him. And, I just knew it that he is 'The Kim Jung Hwan'. In what case he is 'The Kim Jung Hwan'? It's OBVIOUSLY secret............
